At the Tufts Cupid Challenge, RPI first-year athlete Emma McGuinn competed in three events and earned second-place finishes in two. McGuinn was runner-up in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.04, getting edged by the winner by less than a second (8.94 by Amherst). She also ran the 200 and was seventh of 33 (27.45). Then in the 4x200 relay, she ran the second leg and helped the Engineers to second with a time of 1:48.67. The squad was less than a second from victory (1:48.01 by Tufts). There were 13 schools in the meet and RPI finished seventh.
