At the Utica Holiday Classic, RPI sophomore Sean Shannon competed in two events and earned finishes of first place and second place. Shannon won the 15-runner 600 meters with a time of 1:24.76, which was nearly two seconds ahead of the runner-up (1:26.41). He also ran the anchor leg of the 4x400-meter relay, which was second with a time of 3:30.62. The winning team crossed in 3:28.34 and the third-place team was seven seconds behind the Engineers (3:37.84). There were 12 schools in the meet and RPI was fourth.
