William Smith College junior Ava Brazie keyed the Heron defense to a pair of shutout victories to start the season. Against the Blue Jays, she was the last starter on the field as the Herons cruised to an 8-0 victory over the University of Saint Joseph. William Smith's back line held the Blue Jays without a shot in the contest. On Sunday against No. 15 Carnegie Mellon, Brazie played all 90 minutes as the Herons posted their second straight shutout to start the season, a 2-0 win. She played a key role, especially in the second half as the Tartans turned up the offensive pressure.
