William Smith College first-year outside hitter Malya Sayre led the way as the Herons went 3-0 in their opening week of varsity competition. Sayre recorded 45 kills (5.00/set) and 26 digs (2.89/set) along with six service aces in wins over Alfred, SUNY Canton and Potsdam. She had 15 kills in each match while hitting .345 (15-5-29) against Potsdam. William Smith did not drop a set in its first three matches.
