Hobart's Varsity Eight of Sawyer MacDonald, Zachary Berzon, Anthony Carella, Mo Marchart, Will Drake, Conrad Palmer, Cameron Kumagai, Sean Madden and Alex Sickmuller finished first in a field of six boats at the Liberty League Championship on Saturday. The Statesmen, who are receiving votes in this week's Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) poll, powered down the 2,000-meter course with a time of 6:01.070, edging out runner-up Ithaca College by 3.610 seconds. Hobart has won 17 straight gold medals in the Liberty League Varsity Eight race.
