University of Rochester infielder Joseph Rende paced the Yellowjackets during a 3-2 week on the diamond, with three wins coming against league rival RPI to open conference play. The senior hit .409 (9-22) with two doubles, one triple, one home run, eight runs batted in (RBI) and five runs scored. He slugged .727 during the week and had an on-base percentage of .440. Rende had two three-hit games during the week, coming against St. John Fisher on Monday and against RPI on Sunday. In the RPI game on Sunday, Rende was 3-for-5 with four RBI. a double and a home run. His RBI double came in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game at 13-all, sending the game to extra innings, where Rochester won 14-13. He also drove in three runs during game one of the weekend series against the Engineers, an 8-3 Rochester win.
