In his first indoor meet of the season, RPI junior Matt Lecky won both of his events, capturing the mile and 3000 meters at the Utica Winter Opener. His first race, the mile, featured 64 other competitors and he ran a 4:16.17 to defeat each. The runner-up had a time of two seconds slower (4:18.16). In the 3000, Lecky defeated 26 others with a time of 8:42.23. He was .31 ahead of the second place finisher. As a team, the Engineers were second of 15 schools in the multi-divisional meet.
