In the 12-school Utica Holiday Classic, RPI first-year Sean Shannon had a pair of runner-up finishes in the two events in which he competed. Individually, he was second of 30 in the 800 meter run, which he completed in 2:01.71. He was less than a second from first place (2:01.06) and nearly a second ahead of third place, 2:02.68. Shannon also ran in the 4x400 relay, anchoring the squad to a time of 3:33.80. The team was in fourth when he took the baton but placed second overall by nearly a second (3:34.72). There were 14 relay teams. In the final team standings, RPI finished sixth.
