Vassar College first-year athlete Azaan Malik had an impressive collegiate debut for the Brewers last weekend, going near perfect with a 4-1 overall record. In Saturday's 6-3 opening win over Fordham, he posted an 11-5, 11-9, 11-9 win against Caleb Schumacher at eight. He followed that up with an 11-7, 14-12, 11-4 win against Northeastern's Harrison Seeley at eight in a 6-3 team win. Sunday's action saw him record an 11-0, 11-1, 11-1 win against Swarthmore's Abraham Porschet at seven as VC won 9-0. He then fell short in a come-from-behind loss with a 5-11, 9-11, 11-5, 11-8, 8-11 defeat to Georgetown's William Conzelman at eight in a 7-2 team loss. Malik closed out the action with an 11-3, 11-7, 11-3 win over Boston University's Jason Gao at eight despite a 5-4 Brewers loss to the Terriers.
