Vassar College first-year player Macey Dowd had an outstanding opening to her collegiate career, posting a 5-1 record at the Brewers' season-opening Vassar Scramble. Over the two-day event, Dowd was 3-0 in singles. She opened with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over New Paltz's Isabel van der Veen, followed by a 6-2, 6-2 win against NYU's Pearl Nguyen. She closed out singles play with a 6-3, 6-2 win against New Paltz's Trinity Chow. In doubles action, she had a 2-1 mark, her only loss coming in an 8-2 decision against a tough NYU pair. She also posted an 8-5 win over NYU's top duo with partner Melina Stavropoulos, followed by a final round win with Stavropoulos against another NYU duo for the 8-2 victory.
