Ithaca College Parley Hannan was a dual individual national champion at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend. She won both the 10,000 meters and 5,000 meters. Hannan opened the championship with the 10,000 meters where she paced the event from wire-to-wire. On the final lap, Hannan posted her best time of the championship, completing the final 400 meters of the event in 1:17.012. She recorded a final time of 34:33.53, finishing with a nearly 28 second margin of victory.
In the 5,000 meters, it was a much tighter race, Hannan took the lead in the event at the finish line of the eighth lap at 11:18 but was passed 33 seconds later where she remained for the rest of the lap. At the 13:02 mark of the race, Hannan again pulled ahead of the field and turned it on from there. She held a one second lead with two laps to go and extended the distance to three seconds. On the final lap, Hannan put the race away with her fastest lap of the event at 1:11.317 and won the championship by eight seconds (16:22.85).
