In two events to open the season, RPI senior Ryan Quinn finished first in both to lead the Engineers to a pair of wins. On Friday in a dual match at Skidmore, he shot an even par 72 and the Engineers combined to shoot a 304 to defeat the Thoroughbreds by nine strokes. Ryan had two birdies (3rd & 6th) with six pars for an even front nine (36) before registering two birdies (11th & 17th) and an eagle (12th) on the back. He won by three strokes. Two days later at the Liberty League Preview at Turning Stone, he finished first with a 1-under 71 and RPI shot a 293, which was six strokes ahead of the runner-up. Ryan began the day with a birdie and then followed a bogey on No. 6 with a birdie on 7, eventually going out at -1, 35. He earned birdies on Nos. 10 and 13 to get to 3-under before finishing the round at 1-under, 71 to take medalist honors.
