University of Rochester senior Declan Hickton was the runaway winner for Rochester as the Yellowjackets opened the 2021 season with a convincing win at the St. John Fisher Midvale Invitational last Monday. The senior carded rounds of 69 and 71 for a 140 total, finishing nine strokes better than the runner-up finisher in the five-team event. Hickton’s 69 (-3) was tied for the low round of his career and he ended up leading the field in total birdies with 8, par 3 scoring (-1) and par 4 scoring (E). UR as a team posted rounds of 297 and 294 for a 591 total, winning by a whopping 50 strokes over the runner-up team.
