William Smith College first-year Marcela Marquez Martinez advanced to the consolation semifinals at the CSA Individual Championships this weekend. Marquez Martinez competed in the Holleran South Draw. On Friday, she fell to Columbia's Cynthia Cao 11-9, 11-3, 11-4. That afternoon she defeated Amherst's Lauren Weil 11-2, 9-11, 11-7, 11-7 to advance to the consolation semifinals. On Saturday, she fell to Virginia's Sydney Maxwell 11-5, 15-13, 11-8.
