Ithaca College senior Parley Hannan made NCAA Division III history on Friday evening at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University as she set a Division III record in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:05.36 (converts to a flat-track time of 16:12.80). Hannan, who ran in the first section of the race and against some of the top 5K runners in the country (professional and collegiate), shattered the previous DIII record by more than 16 seconds - 16:21.49 set back in 2012 by Christy Cazzola of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Hannan also surpassed Ithaca' school-record time of 16:28.15 set by Taryn Cordani at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in 2017, which won the national title for Cordani. Hannan finished fifth overall in the event and beat the next closest Division III runner by 42 seconds. On Saturday, the distance medley relay of senior Maggie Nickerson, sophomore Katelyn Hutchison and seniors Lindsay Scott and Hannan clocked a time of 11:41.19 to surpass Ithaca's previous school record of 11:51.09 set back in 2003 by Kristen Cravotta, Emily Maston, Lynn Janovich and Amanda Laytham.
