At the Pioneer Winter Classic hosted by Utica, RPI sophomore Kat Morin won both events in which she competed, including setting a school record in one. Morin established a Rensselaer record in winning the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.98 - the only one under 8.00 as the runner-up was 8.02. There were 19 who competed in the preliminaries, which she won with an 8.01, and the customary eight in the final. Morin also captured the 200-meter dash, defeating a field of 29 others with a time of 26.66. The runner-up crossed in 26.80. As a team, RPI won in the six-school, multi-divisional meet with 188 points to outdistance second place Westfield State University (137) by 51 points.
