RPI first-year athlete Julia Hubbard won the triple jump at the Pioneer Winter Classic hosted by Utica with a maximum effort of 10.53 meters, which came on her fifth attempt. Hubbard finished comfortably ahead of the runner-up (9.72) in the five-person field. She also ran third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.44. There were 11 who raced in the preliminaries. As a team, RPI won in the six-school, multi-divisional meet with 188 points to outdistance second-place Westfield State University (137) by 51 points.
