In the first meet of the season, the Smith College Winter Classic, RPI junior Neil Casimir recorded a win in the 400-meter dash and a runner-up in the 200 - the only two events in which he competed. Casimir captured the 400 with a time of 50.36, beating 19 others, including the runner-up who was from Division II American International (50.76). In the 200, Neil ran a 22.72 and was defeated by only .19 in the 23-person event. The meet, which had eight schools, was non-team scoring.
