William Smith College first-year Lauren DeVaney averaged team-highs of 14.3 points and 8.3 rebounds, helping the Herons to a 2-1 record. In her collegiate debut, she scored a game-high 16 points, grabbed four rebounds, logged three steals and blocked a shot in a loss to 2019 NCAA tournament team Geneseo. It's the most points by a Heron in her first collegiate game since three-time All-American Jenn Goodell '97 had 17 in 1993. DeVaney logged nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds in a 79-78 win over Elizabethtown on Saturday. She netted the most important basket of the day with 0.7 seconds remaining, giving the Herons the one-point victory. In the championship game of the Terry Greene Tip-Off Classic, she scored a team-high 18 points and collected a game-hgih eight boards in a 59-39 win over Wilkes. DeVaney was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament.
