The Herons enjoyed an impressive opening week of racing, winning all three of its races. On Wednesday, William Smith began the week with a 27.6 second victory over Rochester. On Saturday, the Herons traveled to Ithaca to take on the sixth-ranked Bombers and ninth-ranked Marietta. William Smith crossed the finish line 12.31 seconds ahead of the Pioneers and a whopping 30.98 seconds ahead of Ithaca. The Herons wrapped up the week on Seneca Lake on Sunday, beating Marietta again (this time by 9.56 seconds) and RIT by a healthy 32.77 seconds. The William Smith varsity eight was powered by Kim Goral, Liz Hafer, Sinead Reilly, Lauren Blake-Whitney, Sarah Gordon, Katie Paige, Tess Wiggins, Alyssa Trebilcock and Jess Steketee.
