RPI senior Grant O'Connor earned two All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor Outdoor Track & Field Championship with finishes of third and fourth place. In the 5000 meters, the final race of his career, he was third with a time of 14:44.46, which was less than four seconds from first (14:40.86) and just over a second behind the runner-up (14:43.41). Grant ran a 73.96-second third lap before posting at-or-under 71 seconds the rest of the way, concluding with a 65.69-second final 400. Two days prior, he was fourth in the 10000 meters with a time of 30:25.84, including 1:07.21 on his final lap. After leading for nearly half the race, he traded the top spot with eventual winner Dhruvil Patel of North Central (30:14.05).
