RPI junior Patrick Butler won the decathlon at the Bobbi Palma University at Albany Spring Classic. On the first day, he compiled 3,189 points with his top event being the 100-meter dash in which he scored 786 points. He then had 720 points in the long jump and finished the day with 736 points in the 400. He secured the victory with the help of 616 points in the 1500, the last event on the second and final day. He also had 599 points in the 110 Hurdles and 565 in the javelin and finished with 5,624 overall points to outdistance the runner-up (unattached), who had 5,589. There were eight competitors in the decathlon.
