University of Rochester junior Michaela Burrell was recognized as the Track Athlete of the Meet at the championship for the second consecutive year. Burrell was a dual individual winner this year with two meet record times in the 60-meter dash and the 200 meters. She also had a hand in Rochester’s meet record-breaking 4x400 relay. Burrell smashed the meet record time of 7.83 seconds in the 60-meter dash set by herself at last year’s championship with a time of 7.76 seconds in Friday’s prelims. She improved upon that time in the finals on Saturday by six-hundredths of a second for a final time of 7.70 seconds. She won the 200 meters with a meet record time of 25.47 seconds, previously set in 2016 by Marisa Turner of St. Lawrence (25.74). In the 4x400 relay, she led the Yellowjackets to the win with the opening leg of the relay (58.36 seconds) and she was followed by teammates Madeleine Vogel, Eileen Bequette and Siobhan Seigne. Rochester finished just over four minutes with a time of 4:00.75 shattering the meet record by two seconds (4:02.66) set by RIT a year ago.
