University of Rochester sophomore Ashley Davies was 3-0 at the #1 spot, as #2 ranked Rochester improved to 8-1 on the season. In UR’s upset of then #1 Trinity on Tuesday, Davies secured a key point, putting UR up 4-3 in the overall match at the #1 position. He defeated Kush Kumar in an impressive three games, winning 11-4, 11-6 and 11-6. Over the weekend, the sophomore had both match clinching points in wins over #5 Columbia and #7 Yale (both on the road). On Saturday, he rallied from 2-1 down to beat Velavan Senthilkiumar 8-11, 11-8, 6-11, 11-3 and 11-7. On Sunday, he again won in five games to clinch the match, topping Spencer Lovejoy 11-4, 11-4, 8-11, 9-11 and 11-9. Davies is a perfect 9-0 in dual matches this season.
