Ithaca College sophomore Kristen Rafferty helped the field hockey team to its best start in nearly two decades, lifting the Bombers to victories over No. 20 SUNY Cortland and Union. The sophomore finished the week with a team-best three goals. Rafferty began the week with a clutch goal in Ithaca's 4-3 victory at 20th-ranked Cortland. Trailing 2-1 in the first half, Rafferty scored an equalizing goal to steal back momentum. The Bombers would go on to win the game 4-3, their first victory over Cortland since 2000. The sophomore continued her big week when Ithaca opened up Liberty League play on Saturday with a home game against Union. Rafferty provided all the scoring in the contest, slapping home a goal in each half en route to IC's 2-0 win.
