Hobart College first-year Shahkyle Matthews returned three kickoffs for 143 yards and a touchdown in Hobart's 56-48 win at Shenandoah on Saturday. He scored on a 95-yard return in the middle of the second quarter that gave the Statesmen a 35-27 lead. It was the first kick return for a touchdown by a Statesman since Sept. 11, 2010, and it was the longest kick return by a Statesman since Sept. 30, 2000. Matthews' 143 return yards are a Hobart game record while his 47.7 yards per return average is the fourth highest in Hobart history.
