University of Rochester junior Kylee Bartlett successfully defended her title and secured back-to-back national championships in the heptathlon at the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship. She entered day two of the competition in third place, just 98 points out of the top spot, but worked her way into second after the opening event on Friday, placing 5th of 22 in the long jump with a 5.38-meter mark, scoring 665 points. She then edged ahead of the pack by nearly 80 points on the strength of her personal best 37.77-meter throw of the javelin. She totaled 4,716 points in the seven-event competition and becomes the fifth woman ever to win multiple heptathlon titles at the NCAAs.
