RPI senior Matt Vitagliano reached a career-best 14.87 meters on his sixth and final attempt to finish in fourth place in the triple jump at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship. This is the first All-America certificate for the senior, who moved up from ninth place to fourth with his final effort, which eclipsed his previous long of the day (14.48 meters) by nearly .40. Vitagliano entered the meet as the 12th seed with a previously-earned season-best distance of 14.64 meters.
