In his first collegiate meet, RPI freshman John Reed won the Kinectic Running Cardinal Classic hosted by Plattsburgh State, running the 5K course in 15:48.0, a pace of 5:06 per mile. There were 74 competitors in the field and the runner-up crossed in 15:50.3. Rensselaer won the four-team meet with 18 points, 37 points in front of second place Plattsburgh.
