The RIT women's crew team made history Friday afternoon, winning the 2017 Liberty League women's rowing team championship and earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Rowing Championships. RIT won gold in the varsity eight, blazing down the course, crossing the line with open water in 7:14.050. Erin Loughran (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy), Amy Guthrie (Essex Junction, VT/Essex), Emma Kohler (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius), Taylor Blackwell (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), Cassandra Killion (New Plymouth, ID/Nampa Christian), Hayley Richardson (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk), Clarissa Brown (Fairport, NY/Fairport), Colleen Ryan (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) and Claire Thomas (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) were more than 12 seconds ahead of second place William Smith.
