RPI first-year athlete George Gonatas competed in two events at Tufts on Sunday, finishing second in the discus and fifth in the shot put to collect 12 team points. He reached 43.82 meters in the 30-person discus, trailing only the winner's throw of 47.14 meters. George was fifth in the shot put, which featured 37 throwers, with a maximum effort of 13.67 meters. The Engineers were second in the 18-school, multi-divisional meet with 104.5 points, trailing only Tufts (153).
