Vassar College freshman midfielder/face off specialist Matthew Lowery was impressive during Vassar's 2-0 week, totaling two goals, eight ground balls and 24 faceoff wins. In the Brewers' 17-9 win over Bryn Athyn, Lowery won 10 of 11 faceoffs on the way to picking up a game-best six ground balls. Both of his goals came in transition directly from faceoff wins. Lowery set the tone early, netting his first goal within the first minute of the first quarter before scoring his second to open the second. Then, in Vassar's 11-9 win over RPI, Lowery won 14 of 24 faceoffs on the way to picking up a pair of ground balls, helping the Brewers win the faceoff battle 14-10 and the ground ball battle 25-20. Through 10 games, Lowery has won 69.4 percent of his faceoffs and grabbed a team-leading 55 ground balls.
