William Smith College junior Kelsey Hill earned an assist, and led the Heron defense that earned two shutouts over the weekend and limited two of the top soccer programs in the nation to just two shots on goal. William Smith battled through two overtime periods to a scoreless tie with No. 1 Messiah on Saturday. The Falcons had scored at least one goal in their previous 70 matches. The last time Messiah was shutout was Sept. 24, 2008. Hill and the William Smith defense held Messiah to just two shots on goal. On Sunday, the Herons defeated Cortland 1-0. Hill assisted the game-winning goal, and played a huge role in a defensive unit that did not allow a single shot on goal. Yet to allow a goal this season, William Smith has earned five straight shutouts to start the year.
