University of Rochester senior Ryosei Kobayashi went 3-0 for Rochester at the CSA National Championships, playing at the #1 spot for the Yellowjackets. He topped St. Lawrence's Mohamed El Gawarhy 3-2, rallying from 2-1 down to win in five games on Friday in the quarterfinals. On Saturday and Sunday, he defeated two fellow first team All-Americans in Marwan Mahmoud of Penn (3-0, #10 rank) and Omar El Atmas of Drexel (3-1, #7 rank) in Rochester's consolation bracket matches. Kobayashi also was selected as the winner of the 2017 Skillman award, the CSA's top honor this weekend at the national team championships.
