Hobart College junior quarterback Shane Sweeney was 31-of-45 passing for 420 yards and four touchdowns in Hobart's 41-35 season-opening win at Brockport. His 31 completions tied the Hobart single game record while his 420 yards passing are third most in a game, his pass attempts are tied for fifth most in a game, and his four TD passes are tied for sixth most in a game. Sweeney also rushed for 22 yards, giving him 442 yards of total offense, the second most by a Statesman. He was not sacked in the contest and did not throw an interception. Sweeney directed touchdown drives on four of the team's final five possessions (he took a knee to run out the clock on the fifth) as the Statesmen rallied from a 35-28 deficit midway through the fourth quarter.
