RPI senior Tyler Yeastedt competed in the hammer, shot put and discus and was second in all three, but first among those affiliated with a university. He threw the shot put 14.79 meters, which was behind the winner by six meters (14.85), but ahead of the third place finisher, Zachary Noll of the College of Saint Rose, by 37 meters (14.42). A total of 27 participants threw the shot. In the discus, Yeastedt reached 51.94 meters, which was bested 21 others, including the third place finisher, Jonathan Eustace of the University of Albany (51.47). The winner had a long of 53.09 meters. And in the hammer throw, Yeastedt's maximum effort was 57.41 meters, which was second to a throw of 62.71 meters and one spot in front of Eustance (56.01 meters). There were 20 competitors in the event.
