For the second time this season, RIT senior Michael Whelton smashed the school mark in the heptathlon en route to winning the seven-event competition at the ECAC Championships on Friday and Saturday. The winning score of 4,685 points bettered his previous school mark of 4,620, set at the Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational on Jan. 29. His 4,685 points is the 15th-best score in Division III this season. Whelton was the top finisher in the 60-meter dash, pole vault, and 1,000-meter run.
