In the team's first action of the semester, RPI junior McKinley Grimes won both his singles matches, defeating No. 1 players from The College of New Jersey and Stevens Institute of Technology - both on the road. Against TCNJ, he posted a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win over Pierce Cooper, though RPI eventually dropped the match, 5-4. The next day at Stevens, Grimes won at No. 1 singles, 7-6, 7-5 against Danny Polk in a 7-2 team loss to the Ducks.
