RIT senior Natalie Snyder claimed the Tigers' first ever title by a female diver at the 2016 NCAA Region 4 Diving Championships, hosted by SUNY Cortland at Harriet Holsten Pool. She was first in the 1-meter event and she finished seventh overall in the 3-meter competition.
Snyder went back and forth with Miranda Fergus of Cortland, as the two traded leads for most of the 11-dives. In the end, Snyder would emerge victorious, with a score of 450.30. Fergus was behind in second with a score of 436.85, while Meghan Kilgallon of Brockport was third (424.35) and Katie Helly of Ithaca placed fourth (423.80). All four divers automatically qualify for the 2016 NCAA Championship, which will take place from March 16-19 at Greensboro College in Greensboro, N.C.
On Saturday, Synder placed seventh out of the 24 divers with a score of 433.35. Fergus won the event with a score of 459.45, 15 points ahead of Ithaca's Anna Belson. Fourth through seventh place was separated by just six points.
