RIT senior Michael Whelton set a school record in winning the heptathlon with a score of 4,620 points at the Brockport Golden Eagle Multi and Invitational over the weekend. He broke the previous school mark of 4,572 points, set by Matt Joseph in 2009. Whelton set personal bests in the 60-meters (7.30 seconds), long jump (6.35 meters), and shot put (8.15 meters). On Saturday, he recorded a leap of 4.60 meters in the pole vault, which would have won the regular competition.
