RIT senior Matt Giannino earned All-American honors in the 3,000- and 5,000-meters at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend. On Saturday, Giannino placed seventh in the 3,000-meters with a time of 8:19.00. Giannino, the 2015 USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Indoor Track and Field Male Track Athlete of the Year, just missed his school record time of 8:13.99, set earlier in the season. Friday, Giannino, RIT's record holder in the 5,000-meters, sat in the middle of the pack for the first half of the race before unleasing a run and getting into second with about 2,000-meters left. He stayed in the top three until the final three laps before finishing sixth in a time of 14:34.62.
