Union College junior forward William Hython was MVP the Dutchmen won the NYU Tip-Off Tournament. He scored 22 points with eight rebounds as Union defeated host New York University 64-62 in the title game. The Violets had won their tip-off tourney five straight years. Hython was 10-for-18 and had seven of his rebounds on the defensive side. He made a layup with two seconds left to make it 64-62 and played all 40 minutes. He also scored 17 points with seven rebounds in the first-round game and season-opener vs. Old Westbury.
