In their own version of the Harvard Yale boat race, RIT Men's Crew and the University of Rochester challenged the other to begin a new tradition the first Saturday of November in "The Boat Race". The cold, blustery, rainy morning didn't dampen the spirits of these oarsmen testing themselves against the elements, with intense side-by-side racing, and the distance before them. The Tigers swept all three events with the varsity eights racing four miles, the JV eights three miles, and the freshmen eights two miles. Races were held concurrently on the downstream course, finishing in Genesee Valley Park near the University of Rochester campus. RIT boats raced in the east lane, on the RIT side of the river. Rochester crews raced in the West lane, on their boathouse side of the river. Racing in the varsity eight for the Tigers, seated in the Gos3, sat cox'n Piper Gasiorowski, stroke seat Joe Grosso, Justin Carter, Eric Schulken, Sam Adams, Tim Frey, Konstantin Hamilton, Doug Moyer, and bow seat Jon Massari. The Tigers finished ahead of the Yellowjackets by four lengths.
