Rochester freshman Matt van Niekerk lost a playoff for medalist honors on Sunday in the NYU-Manhattanville Invitational. He finished with a two-over 144 (72-72) in the 66-player field. He lost the playoff to a player from team champion Williams. Rochester was third out of 12 teams.
