Vassar junior Evie Toland was an instrumental part of Vassar's defense and the team's successful 2-1 spring break trip to Colorado. Her ability to shift the with the ball and to communicate with her fellow defenders kept opponents to an average of 27 shots a game. Toland grabbed critical ground balls and forced tough turnovers, helping the Brewers on vital transitions. She recovered two ground balls against Denison University and then added one apiece against Colorado College and Regis University. She caused two turnovers in Vassar's season-opener against Regis and instigated another with Denison. Toland won three draw controls against both Denison and Colorado and then two against Regis.
