Senior guard Sasha Borenstein helped William Smith to four victories over the holiday break, averaging a team-high 19.3 ppg. She recorded 13 points and three rebounds in a 65-60 win over Buffalo State in the first round of the Daytona Beach Shootout. The following day, Borenstein made eight 3-pointers, one off the school record, and finished with a then-career-high 26 points as well as four rebounds, in a 91-66 victory over Potsdam. She was named to the Shootout's All-Tournament Team. On Friday at Cortland, Borenstein tied the Heron record for 3FGM in a game, canning nine against a Red Dragon defense that entered the contest 87th out of 426 teams in Division III in 3-point field goal defense (.247). She scored a career-high 27 points in the 81-63 win over the Red Dragons. On Sunday, Borenstein produced 11 points and three boards in a 74-69 win over Rochester, the Herons first over the Yellowjackets since 2000. She has made at least one 3-pointer in 25 consecutive games and needs 21 3FGM to break the school's career record. During the four-game span, Borenstein shot .553 from the floor, .553 from beyond the arc, and was perfect from the free throw line.
