In the season-opening win at Dickinson, Hobart Senior running back Steven Webb rushed for a career-high 207 yards and three touchdowns, single-handedly outrushing the Red Devils by 80 yards and outscoring them 18-7. He was not brought down behind the line of scrimmage on any of his 19 carries Saturday, averaging 10.9 yards per rush. Webb took his second handoff of the day 51 yards to the house and also scored from, 1 and 14 yards out. It's the most rushing yards in a game by a Statesman since Doug Blakowski ran for 214 yards at Merchant Marine on Oct. 14, 2006. Webb's per carry average was the highest by a Hobart player since Jack Holleran averaged 11.4 against Dickinson on Sept. 14, 2002. Saturday marked Webb's ninth career 100-yard rushing game and third in a row. It was also the fifth time he's scored a career-high three touchdowns in a game.
