Sophomore goalie Pat Johnston helped RIT advance to their first-ever NCAA Championship game with a pair of wins over No. 6 Tufts and No. 1 Cortland in the quarterfinals and semifinals respectively.
Johnston made 15 saves and allowed four goals in a 14-5 win over Tufts in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. He followed that up with 10 saves, including four in the fourth quarter to lift RIT to a 10-9 overtime win at Cortland in the semifinals.
Johnston is 19-2 on the season with a 6.78 goals against average and a .652 save percentage.
