The William Smith varsity eight defeated all of its Division III opponents this weekend on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. On Saturday, the No. 4 Herons finished second to Division I host Holy Cross on the 2,000-meter course with the time of 6:50.53, just 0.93 seconds behind the Crusaders. The crew of Kim Goral, Jess Steketee, Lauren Blake-Whitney, Sinead Reilly,Katie Paige, Sarah Gordon, Laura Cappio, Libby Hughes, and Alyssa Trebilcock defeated two nationally ranked boats on the weekend in No. 8 Ithaca on Saturday and No. 9 Tufts on Sunday. The Herons posted a time of 6:47.7 in their winning race against the Jumbos and league for Skidmore.
