The Hobart varsity eight produced their highest finish at the Knecht Cup over the weekend. The Statesmen brought home a silver medal with an impressive performance in the grand final on Sunday. Jessica Dinan, Brett Lawhon, August Wherry, Robert McNamara, Rob Nanovsky, W. Hunter Holtz, Julien Green, Owen Monahan, Davis Muller covered the 2,000-meter Cooper River course in 6:00.61. Only Drexel was faster with Delaware, Temple, Trinity, and Marist rounding out the field. On Saturday, the Statesmen V8 earned its spot in the grand final with a pair of wins. Hobart topped Temple in its preliminary heat, logging the fastest morning time in the event (5:59.04). In the afternoon semifinals, the Statesmen won in a time of 5:53.6, 0.54 seconds ahead of runner-up Trinity.
